Douglas Shelton Piper, 77, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. He was a Logan County native. born March 6, 1942 to the late Leland Herndon Piper and Ila Louise Shelton Piper. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and an inspector for Emerson Electric. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlene Akin Piper; his brothers, Larry Piper of Allensville and his twin, Donald Piper and wife Bonnie of Russellville; his sisters, Kathryn Stuart of Russellville and Louise Whalen and husband Jim of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Douglas Shelton Piper will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Chyle officiating with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home continue Sunday from 8 a.m. until the service hour.
Memorial donations may be made to the Woodlawn Baptist Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
