Manella Kathryn Costello Lawhon, 91, of Fugate Avenue, Adairville passed away Wednesday Sept. 17, 2014 at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, Tenn. She was a Logan County native, born Aug. 9, 1923 to the late John Wesley Costello and Nellie Mae Simmons Costello.
She was a devoted wife and mother, serving alongside Rev. Tom Lawhon in numerous Baptist churches in the southern Kentucky and northern Tennessee area. They served churches full-time close to 40 years and upon retirement, served as interim pastor in numerous churches until a final retirement in 2013. She was a member of the Adairville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years ~ Rev. Thomas E. Lawhon; her sons ~ Daniel Edward Lawhon (Sherrie) ~ Birmingham, Ala. and John Mark Lawhon (Kathy) ~ Savanna, Ga.; her daughters ~ Linda Carol Lawhon ~ Springfield, Tenn. and Beverly Sue Lawhon ~ Nashville; her sister ~ Carol Costello McEndre ~ Russellville; two grandsons ~ Brandon Mark Lawhon and Joshua Ryan Lawhon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Manella Costello Lawhon will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Freudenthal and Bro. Mark Bond officiating with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will take place Friday, Sept. 19, from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday after 8 a.m. until the funeral hour of 11 a.m.
