John Hamlin “Johnny” Guion III, 78, of Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2019 at his home. He was a Logan County native, born Dec. 26, 1940 to the late John Hamlin Guion Jr. and Winnie Minnix Guion. He was a grocer with Guion’s Market and member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was the Russellville High School salutatorian in 1959 and played high school football and basketball. He was SKY Conference Football player of the Year in 1958 and inducted into the RHS Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame and named one of the 50 greatest football players. He graduated from Western KY University College of Business in 1963.
He was the Logan County Judge Executive from 1990 through 2006.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, John H. Guion IV.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Guion; his daughter, Susan Guion Coursey and husband Mark of Russellville; his brothers, George Samuel Guion of Franklin, N.C. and Joseph Taylor Guion and wife Carolyn of Russellville; his sister, Linda Carol Gilliam and husband Glenn of Russellville; his grandchildren, Kristen Danielle Coursey and Kaleb Hamlin Coursey; and several nieces and nephews.
The family of John Hamlin “Johnny” Guion III will receive friends on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 8 a.m. until noon at the Historic Logan County Court House.
