Thomas Nelson Lyne, 92, of Olmstead, passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019 at the Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville, the next day after the passing of his wife, June Dawson Lyne. He was a Logan County native, born Nov. 26, 1926 to the late Robert Martin Lyne and Annalee Pierre Lyne. He was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran, a farmer and member of the Bethany Church of Christ where he was an elder for 50 years.
He was on the Logan County ASC committee and Kentucky State ASC committee, past board member of the South Logan Water Association and on the Logan County Draft Board. He also helped start the Olmstead Fire Department.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, June Dawson Lyne, and his sisters, Josephine Lyne Fox and Margaret Lyne Flowers.
He is survived by his son, David Sciortino and wife Gerry of Nashville; his daughter, Patty Williams and husband Hal of Olmstead; his brother, Charles Lyne and wife of Olmstead; his four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
A joint funeral service for Thomas Nelson Lyne and June Dawson Lyne was held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m. at Crittenden Drive Church of Christ with Harris Dockins officiating with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held at the church on Friday from 1-3 p.m.
Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
