Pittman Spears, 79, of Smyrna, Tenn., formerly of Russellville, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 at the Hopkins Center in Woodburn. He was born in Clarksville on Aug. 23, 1940 to the late Sidney Spears and Margaret Blanks Spears.
He was a retired Sergeant First Class with the U.S Army. He was a graduate of Russellville High School, graduated from the Carlisle Military School in 1958, was a drummer and trumpet player for The Dominos band, volunteered for Camp Samaritan in Murfreesboro where he helped homeless veterans and was an avid UT Vols fan and Tennessee Titans fan, and an avid Nascar fan.
He is survived by his daughter, Staci DeArmond of Russellville.
Graveside services for Pittman Spears will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the Maple Grove Cemetery with Andy Mac Rector officiating. Memorial Donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
