Roy S. Robertson Jr., 95, of Olmstead, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020 at his home. He was born in Cleveland, Va. on Aug. 18, 1924 to the late Roy S. Robertson Sr. and Lelia Combs Robertson. He was a farmer and member of Dripping Spring Baptist Church. He owned three dairy farms in Virginia, was honored as the National Star Farmer in 1943 and helped build Coal Triple.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian Robertson, granddaughter, Malia Robertson and brother and his wife, Charlie and Virginia Robertson.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nola Moates Robertson; his sons, Roy S. Robertson III and Debbie of Sweetwater, Tenn., J. P. Robertson and Wanda of Auburn, Thane Robertson of Etowah, Tenn., Roger Robertson and Annette of Englewood, Tenn., Mark Robertson and Allie of Olmstead, Mike Robertson and Tina of Guthrie, Glen Robertson of Allensville, and Matt Robertson and Jamie of Olmstead; his daughters, Kathy Haynes and Harrison of Gainesville, Ga., Edie R. Melton of Athens, Tenn., Bonnie Martin and Elden Cardin of Madisonville, Tenn., Tamara Robertson of Englewood, Tenn. and Robyn Shannon and Dave of Loudon, Tenn.; his sister, Phyllis Ailene Wexler of Jonesborough, Tenn.; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Wallace of Virginia and Libby Brooks of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Due to the funeral restrictions for the Coronavirus, a private Graveside for Roy S. Robertson Jr. will be held on the family farm. Summers and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donation may be made to the Logan County or Simpson County FFA.
Pallbearers will be his sons and grandchildren.
