Dorris E. Johnson, 91, of South Main Street, Russellville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014 at Creekwood Place Nursing and Rehab Center in Russellville. He was a Logan County native, born June 5, 1923 to the late Freeling Johnson and Katie Thurmond Johnson.
He worked with Swift and Company as a dairy distributor. He later worked as a police officer for the City of Russellville and retired with the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, where he served as deputy. He was a member of the Post Oak Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son ~ Tony Johnson (Kim) ~ Saint Petersburg, Fla.; his step-son ~ Mike Baugh (Angie) ~ Russellville; his daughters ~ Sherry Wilkins (Jerry) ~ Russellville, and Lindy Barris (Alan) ~ Springfield, Tenn.; his sisters ~ Sue Bess Campbell ~ Bowling Green, and Norma Murphy ~ Russellville, and his five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Dorris E. Johnson will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Wilbur Powell officiating and burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will take place after 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the service hour of 11 a.m.
