Mary Eleanor Adams McCormick of Russellville passed away at her daughter’s home, on her 82nd birthday, surrounded by her daughters and their families.

She was born on June 1, 1938 in Olmstead, KY. to the late Raymond Benjamin and Elsie Daniel Adams.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Gordon K McCormick, as well as her eldest sister, Dorothy Adams Riggins.

She is survived by her three daughters, Melanie Markham Randolph (Jeff) of Franklin, Pam Markham Crow (Bryan) of Louisville, and Amanda Markham Smith (Stew) of Yorktown, Va.; her sisters, Margaret Adams Celsor of Russellville and Carolyn Adams Gray of Nashville; her grandchildren, Megan Randolph Strait (Ford) of Louisville, Benjamin Crow and Joshua Crow of Louisville, and Alexandra Smith and Emily Smith of Yorktown; her great-grandson, Titus Strait of Louisville, and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was a lifelong member of New Union Baptist Church in Russellville. She was a member of the Russellville Chamber of Commerce and involved with various community organizations through the years. She was a talented seamstress, having spent a number of years creating beautiful, hand-made garments for her girls.

She is best known in the area as a caring and competent Modern Woodmen of America (MWA) representative. She was with MWA from October 1980 through July 1999 and among one of the very first female District Managers nationally for the company. She received several distinguished service awards throughout her career such as, the President’s Club distinction many times and Million-Dollar Round Table membership at least six times. However, her happiest achievements were those helping the community via numerous school programs and many benefit activities for needy causes and individuals via matching fund programs. She loved this work, worked hard at it, and never met a stranger.

In her retirement years Eleanor procured numerous antiques and owned and operated McCormick Place Antiques and Collectibles. Although her health waned in recent years, her love for her Lord, her family and Logan County never did.

Private funeral services for Eleanor McCormick will be conducted at Summers & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Blick officiating, followed by a private burial in Belmont Cemetery in Allensville. The family will receive friends via a drive-through visitation on Saturday, June 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to Gideons International, Russellville Camp, P.O. Box 344, Russellville 42276. Online condolences may be made on the funeral home website at, www.summersandsonfh.com .
