James B. “Jim” Shackelford, 84, of Olmstead passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020 at Creekwood Nursing and Rehab in Russellville. He was born in Knoxville on March 12, 1936 to the late A. A. Shackelford and Gladys Randles Shackelford.
He was a member of Dripping Spring Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized in 1948. He farmed most of his life; he also worked as a stone mason. He worked for the Logan County Sheriff’s Department and was a Logan County Detective, was one of the founders of the Logan County CD Rescue unit and served 24 years. He also did custom spraying for 23 years, was a Shriner and served in the Army National Guard.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Shackelford; his brother, Charles Shackelford; his sisters, Ruby Steward, Margaret Proctor, Wanda Mason, Mildred Curtis and Betty Jean Shackelford.
He is survived by his son, Timmy Shackelford and wife Susan of Bowling Green; his daughters, Ellen Neal and Tammy Pedigo and husband Jeff, all of Olmstead; his brother, Johnny Shackelford and wife Debbie of Olmstead; his sisters, Carolyn Coleman and husband Roger of Adairville and Dorothy Carter and husband Ray of Smiths Grove; eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A public graveside service for James B. “Jim” Shackelford will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Dripping Spring Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Noffsinger, Bro. Donnie Blick and Bro. Harris Dockins officiating. There will be no public visitation held before the graveside service.
