Rayburn Atkinson, 82, of Russellville, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2020 at the home of his daughter. He was a Logan County native, born Jan. 23, 1938 to the late Hubert Atkinson and Louella Scott Atkinson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the National Guard. He was a retired tow motor operator for R. J. Corman and member of Post Oak Baptist Church and the Logan County Senior Citizens.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty White Atkinson and son, Anthony Atkinson.
He is survived by his son, Ricky Moore of Lewisburg; his daughters, Angela Denis Wood of Owensboro and Judy Thomas and Sheila Biggs and husband Corkey, all of Russellville; his brother, Freddie Atkinson of Auburn; his sister, Sue Kemp of Russellville; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Rayburn Atkinson will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at Summers and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Fuller and Ricky Moore officiating with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. A Walk-through Visitation at the funeral home will be held Sunday, Aug. 23, from 5-8 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. until the service hour. Please observe the CDC guidelines of six feet distancing and wearing of face coverings.
