Alfred Leon “Al” Thacker Sr. 88, of Franklin, died Monday, April 12, 2021. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Schochoh Church of Christ, 6188 Corinth Road, Adairville. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The Simpson County Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors at the cemetery.

A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Wilbur Thacker and Beatrice Johns Thacker. Al grew up in the Round Pond Community of Simpson County and graduated from Franklin Simpson High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955.

He began farming in 1955 and was owner and operator of T&T Farms headquartered in Schochoh until his retirement in 2000.

He loved fishing, playing rook, family time and giving his fish to friends and family. The place that “Pop” died was the same place he taught children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and even children who weren’t his own how to fish – Angel Rock on Red River.

He served as an elder in the Schochoh Church of Christ from 1978 until 2000. He was also known for his whistling and singing hymns. He leaves a legacy of being a wonderful Christian man and friend to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his wife – Sylvia Turner Thacker; his son – Jeff Thacker; his daughter- Carol Thacker; his brother – Jack Thacker; and his great-grandson – Dylan Graves.

Survivors include his children – Al Thacker, Jr. (Angela), Karen Thacker and Bonnie Wimpee (Gus), all of Franklin; his brother – Wally Thacker; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and from 6-11 a.m. Friday at Crafton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church from noon until funeral time at 2 p.m. Memorial gifts may be made to the Taylor Christian Camp, c/o Franklin Church of Christ, POB 511, Franklin, KY 42135 and/or Schochoh Church of Christ c/o Marty Davis, 3685 Conn Road, Adairville, KY 42202.
