Franklin Morris Thompson Sr., 84, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. He was born in Buffalo Valley, Tenn. on Feb. 8, 1937 to the late Collie William Thompson and Dollie Morris Thompson.
He was retired from the U.S. Army, Russellville ITW and United States Postal Service contractor. He was a member of Center Point Baptist Church in Springfield. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Waymon, Jerry, Elmer Lee and Minor L. Thompson.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Zita Thompson; his daughters, Mary Ann Pedigo and husband Terry of Russellville and Judy Pierce and husband Tim of Clarksville; his son, Frank Thompson and wife Connie of Russellville; and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family of Franklin Morris Thompson will have a private graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery. There will be no public visitation or service. Summers and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
