Douglas Owen Knox, 54, of Auburn, beloved husband of Sarah (Hostetler) Knox, was born Sept. 6, 1967 to John and Margaret (Hostetler) Knox at Bolivar, Mo.  Doug peacefully passed away on Oct. 14, 2021 at age 54. He fought covid and its complications for nearly six weeks with the last 25 days being spent at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

Doug accepted Christ in his youth and was baptized at Mt. Zion A.M. Church.  He fought many battles, but always believed. His faith carried him to the end and to Jesus.  He was currently attending Haven of Hope fellowship in Auburn.

On April 4, 1989, Doug was united in marriage to Sarah Anne Hostetler, daughter of Paul and Orpha Hostetler, at Mt. Zion AM Church in Mena, Ariz. They shared the joys and sorrows of life for 32 years: To this union was born five children, sons Shelton and wife JoVonne and Tyrelle Knox, all of Auburn; and his daughters Shana and husband Marshall Miller of Auburn, Tori and husband Robert Kropf of Nashville, Ark. and Kianna Knox of the home; and his grandchildren, Skylar, Brodie, Oakley, Onyx, Emma and Maximus.

In addition to his sorrowing wife and family are his parents, John and Margaret; his brothers and sisters, Deborah and husband Justin Christner Altus of Arkansas, Rodeny and wife Rhonda of Otterville, Mo., Art Knox and late wife Lydia of Ohio, Julie and husband Roy Kropf of Missouri, Caleb Knox and wife Sharlene of Missouri, Rachel and husband Chris Eigsti of Wisconsin, Becky and husband Merle Knox of Colorado, Marie and husband Dae Headings of Arkansas, Abe and wife Marissa of Arkansas, and Noah Knox and wife Colleen of Colorado; and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death are his father and mother-in-law, Paul and Orpha Hostetler, sister-in-law Lydia Knox and brother-in-law Roger.

Doug and Sarah enjoyed many adventurous trips. Often they spontaneously take weekend trips together on the bike and also many family trips. He loved to sing with family and friends around the table. Doug will be greatly missed!  His steady and calm nature was easy to get along with and he made many friends. One of the highlights of the year was going on the “couples ride” with a group of bikers and fearless leader Wayne Miller.

The family wants to thank all who helped out over the long hospital stay. Also thanks for the many, many prayers that were sent heavenward and for attending the prayer services at the hospital parking lot.

Visitation will be held from 2  to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Willow Creek Mennonite Church on Morgantown Road. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday by John Mark, Paul Miller, and John Hostetler with burial to follow in the Willow Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery.
