On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, Cheryl Renee Oberhausen passed away at the age of 58 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Cheryl was born on Oct. 22, 1963 in Louisville to the late Jeanette Hayden and Everet Leo Thurman of Bardstown.
She graduated from Warren East High School in Bowling Green and was previously employed by Meijer in Bowling Green. Cheryl was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Auburn.
On June 29, 1991 she married Dickie Oberhausen. They raised one daughter, Caitlynn. Cheryl is known for her devotion to her friends and family, her contagious laugh, her compassion, and selfless spirit. She was an avid lover of Elvis Presley and shared her passion for the Lord. Cheryl was a firm believer that cardinals are visitors from heaven and we will await the privilege of her visits.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Jeanette Hayden, her father, Everet Thurman, and her sister, Mary Evelyn Barlow.
She is survived by her husband, Dickie Oberhausen; her daughter, Caitlynn Oberhausen Laster, her granddaughter, Everleigh Claire “Evie Claire” Laster; her sisters, Joann (Sonny) Spalding of Bowling Green, and Pat (Billy) Carney and Doris Constable of Bardstown, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 16, at Kirby Funeral Services Russellville at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday, from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
