Ralph Edward Lasso of Russellville died Feb. 14, 2023 following a brief battle with lung cancer.
Ralph was born June 12, 1945 in Sewickley, Penn. and attended New Castle (Pennsylvania) High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the Naval Construction Battalion, “Seabees”, until receiving an honorable medical discharge in 1980, having earned the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Navy Unit Commendation with two Bronze Stars, and Meritorious Unit Commendation with two Bronze Stars. While serving Ralph attended the Army-Navy Nuclear Power School where he learned the vocation in which he would spend the rest of his career and go on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1999) and Master of Science in Occupational Safety and Health (2000) from Cambridge State University.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Anthony Frank Lasso and Marcella Boland Lasso. He was also predeceased by his daughter-in-law Angela Shaw Lasso.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy Trotter Lasso; his sons, Ralph Edward Lasso Jr. and wife Donna of Gulfport, Miss., and Scott James Lasso and wife Sarah Beth of Raleigh, N. C.; his grandchildren, Ralph Edward Lasso, III “Trae” (Jaycee), Cameron Reed Lasso (Brooke), Forrest Baldwin Lasso (Melody), Cullen Stuart Lasso (Jaclyn), Sarah Grace Lasso, Sutton Thompson Lasso, and Manning McLean Lasso; and his great-grandchildren, Kaylee Lasso, Lakyn Lasso, John Calvin Lasso, Ellie Brooke Lasso and Brady Reed Lasso.
The family would like to thank the staff of Logan Memorial Hospital for their care during Ralph’s last days. Ralph leaves many cherished memories and will be missed by his family and friends.
