Margaret Savastano, 85, of Auburn, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 7, 1938, in Arkansas to the late Albert Waltz and Jessie Alice White Barbee. She was a teacher for approximately 20 years in Louisiana.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Guy Edward Barbee; her husband, Ernest Joseph Savastano; and her daughter, Kimberly Savastano Hamrick.
She is survived by her son, Guy Anthony Savastano of Ponchatoula, Lou.; her sister, Gladys Robertson and husband Norman of Anderson, S.C.; and her grandchildren, Josh Hamrick and wife Amber of Auburn and Sarah Jane Durham and husband Joshua of Newport News, Va., and 14 great-grandchildren/
Margaret Savastano had chosen cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m, on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Summers and Son Funeral Home. Visitation at the funeral home will be that day from 1 p,m. until the service hour of 2.
