James Robert Sanford, 87, of Russellville, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2023 at Alive Hospice in Nashville. He was a Logan County native, born Jan. 3, 1936 to the late Willie Sanford and Mary Mullin Sanford. He retired from Carpenter Co. where he worked in maintenance, was a farmer and wasa US Army Veteran. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he served as Trustee, Song Leader and Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandra Sanford; his sons, Greg Sanford of Pulaski, Tenn., Jeff Sanford of Adairville, Pat Sanford of Russellville and Jonathan Hightower of West Frankfort, Ill.; his daughter Lara Sanford of Arlington, Va.; and his five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for James Robert Sanford will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21, at Summers and Son Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Chyle officiating with burial to follow in the Stokes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Sunday, Aug.20, from 5-8 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.
