Gordon Kenneth McCormick, 80, of Sportsman Club Road, Russellville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at his home. He was born in Crossville, Tenn. on Sept. 15, 1934 to the late Sampson Claude McCormick and Viola Belle Davis McCormick.
He was employed at Shakeproof ITW for 37 years, transferred from Elgin, Ill. to Russellville in 1968 where he was supervisor of the Heat Treat and Plating department. Additionally, Gordon and his wife Eleanor, worked together to build their Modern Woodmen of America business and are owners of McCormick Place Antiques and Collectibles. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Eleanor Adams McCormick; his daughters ~ Donna McCormick Hardison (Ricky), Gloria McCormick Free (Johnny) and Karen McCormick McFadden ~ all of Whitwell, Tenn.; his three step-daughters ~ Melanie Markham Randolph (Jeff) ~ Bowling Green, Pam Markham Crow (Bryan) ~ Louisville, and Amanda Markham Smith (Michael) ~ Yorktown, Va.; his three sisters ~ Cunelia Perry and Berma Perkins ~ both of Whitwell, and Sue Hood ~ North Chattanooga; his six grandchildren ~ J.W. Hardison, Kenny Free, Patrick McFadden, Chase Hardison, Shelah Free and Amy Hardison; his five step-grandchildren ~ Megan Elizabeth Randolph, Benjamin Adams Crow, Joshua David Crow, Emily Noelle Smith and Alexandra Nicole Smith; and seven great-grandchildren along with a family Friend ~ Mark Hightower.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Verlie McCormick, and a sister, Anita Conor.
Funeral services for Gordon Kenneth McCormick will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. James Doyle and Bro. Donnie Blick officiating. Visitation Saturday at the funeral home will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour of 3 p.m.
Funeral services at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home at 795 Morrison Springs Road, Whitwell, Tenn. 37397 will be held Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Bro. David Wilkerson officiating with burial to follow in the Red Hill Cemetery. Visitation at Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home will be Sunday from noon until the funeral hour of 2 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donation to the Lymphedema Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
