James Rice “Jim” Young Jr., 91 of Russellville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 at Tristar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. He was born in Nashville on Sept. 27, 1932 to the late James Rice Young Sr., and Laura Elizabeth Gill Young.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and the past superintendent of the Russellville Independent Schools. He received his undergraduate degree at Austin Peay University and his Masters from Peabody College. He was also a past principal of Auburn High School and coached high school basketball for Lewisburg and Russellville. He was a past member of the Rotary Club and member of the United Methodist Temple where he sang in the church choir.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Young.
He is survived by his sons, Jim Young IV and wife Kathy of Clarksville and Robert D. Young and wife Catina of Olmstead; his daughter, Mary Ann Pacheco and husband Doug of Columbia, Tenn.; and his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for James Rice “Jim” Young Jr. will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Belmont Cemetery with Paster David Harting officiating. Visitation at Summers and Son Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
