James “Jim” Wilkerson, 88, of Adairville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro. He was born in Bells, Tenn. on Oct. 19, 1935 to the late Bernard Wilkerson and Frances Sherrod Wilkerson.
He was the Vice President of Odom’s Tennessee Pride Sausage Company, was a former Mayor of Adairville and was a Mason. He attended Adairville Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon. He served on the Board of Trustees at Belmont University, was on the Board of Directors at Adairville Banking Company and served on the Board of the South Logan Water Association.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annette Clayton Wilkerson, and his son, Jeffrey Wilkerson.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Johnson and husband Van of Murfreesboro; his daughter-in-law, Carol Wilkerson of Adairville; his brother, Paul Wilkerson of Joelton; his sisters, Nancy Ferrell of Brownsville and Sharon Baggett of Parsons, Tenn.; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for James “Jim” Wilkerson will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 10, at Adairville Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip Alexander and Bro. Van Johnson officiating with burial to follow in the Trimble Cemetery. Visitation at the church will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the service hour of 2.
