Patricia Faye ‘Pat’ Thomas Powell passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glendon Thomas and Beaulah Thomas Epley.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Lewis Ray Powell; her son, Rich Powell (Rebecca) and their children Danya Powell, David Powell (Setareh), and Derek Powell; her daughter, Karla Martin (Doug) and their children, Christi Martin, Jon Martin (Alyssa), Luke Martin, Summer Martin, and Baylee Martin; and her four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Lewis Thomas (Sue), Julia Fegreus (Dick), Wayne Thomas (Peggy), and Peggy Robinson (Roger), plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Born Patricia Faye Thomas on Sunday, Oct. 8, 1944 in Logan County, she chose a life of following Jesus at the age of twelve. She loved the Lord wholeheartedly, and it showed in her beauty, grace, and selfless heart. Known as “Miss Pat” by children of all ages, she gave much of her life in teaching preschoolers in daycare as well as leading children’s and youth Sunday school classes. Somehow, she made each child feel like the most special one in the room.

Previously a member at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Russellville, she was currently an active member of Dickerson Road Baptist Church in Nashville. At both churches, she spent over 50 years giving her musical talents in playing the organ and the piano and ministering often in song. She was also a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary for 30 years. She cooked and served Wednesday night meals, making sure every person’s personal dietary needs were catered to.

She was thrilled to graduate from “Mom” to “Granna.” Her family is grateful for her attention to the details of their lives, attending every ballgame, concert, recital, conference, and church program; for listening to every story, problem, bad joke, and new song. And then there were the cakes! Everyone’s birthday was celebrated with a homemade, custom-designed cake, decorated by an imagination and resourcefulness that knew no bounds.

A visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, from 4-8 p.m. at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, 127 N Main Street, Goodlettsville, Tenn. 37072.

Local visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, from noon until 2 p.m. at Summers & Son Funeral Home, 210 North Thurston Drive, Russellville, KY 42276. A Celebration of Life begins at 2 p.m., immediately followed by interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Gideon International.
