Martha Jo Dawson, 82, of Olmstead, passed away May 2, 2024 at her home. She was born in Allensville on Jan. 4, 1942 to the late John K. Fowler and Cecil Mae Huddleston Fowler.

She taught for Olmstead School for 35 years and was a lifetime member of Allensville United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Logan County Retired Teachers, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Secretary of the Olmstead Fire Department.

She enjoyed working in the yard, especially mowing, traveling, and visiting the great grands. She was a big part of Dawson Farms and was actively involved in taking lunches to the field.

She loved her family. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nora Mae Fowler and Betty Norfleet; her infant brother, John David Fowler, and her brother-in-law, William Norfleet.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lynn Dawson; her son. Joseph Dawson and wife Heather of Olmstead; her grandson, Caleb Dawson and wife Lyndsey of Clifton, Va.; her great-grandchildren, Norah and Mikes Dawson of Clifton; her nephew, Bill Norfleet and wife Teresa of Cedar Hill, Tenn.; her nieces, Philissa Trousdale and husband David of Allensville and Angela Sanford of Clarksville; and her great-niece, Mary Sanford of Clarksville.

A Celebration of Life for Martha Jo Dawson will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, at Summers and Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff DiMatties officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Sunday from noon until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Allensville United Methodist Church, PO Box 145, Allensville, KY 42204.
