Jacob Carl "J.C." Key, 91, of Lewisburg, passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, 2024, at The Waters of Springfield in Springfield, Tenn. He was born Friday, Aug. 11, 1933, the son of the late James "Orby" Key and the late Cora Lear Key. He was the husband of Barbara Johnson Key of Lewisburg, who survives.

J.C. was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having honorably served his country in Korea. During his service, J.C. was wounded in combat and received a Purple Heart Medal.

After his military service, J.C. worked at the Logan County Road Department and was a farmer. He was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and the Lewisburg Lions Club.

Also surviving are his daughters, Vivian Milam of Lewisburg and Shellie (Don) Tomes of Russellville; his sons, Rickey Key and Jeff Key, both of Russellville; his step-daughter, Tonia (Travis) Waid of Franklin; his step-son, Tony Ashby of Lewisburg; and his nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren. 11 great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Whitson Key; his sister, Sara Imogene Herdon, his brother, James Otis Key; and his step-grandson, Cooper Waid.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, at Price Funeral Home, Inc., located at 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg, with Bro. Tim Nugent and Bro. Ronnie Forrest officiating. Interment will be in Elk Lick Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at Price Funeral Home.
