William Carey Appling, 80, of Russellville passed away Dec. 22, 2024 at Creekwood Nursing and Rehab. He was the son of the late Edwin Boyce Appling and Aggie Appling.
He is also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Ann Knight Appling, his brothers, Ben Appling, Buck Appling ajd Bob Appling; and his sisters, Nannie Jane and Jessie Mae.
He is survived by his forever best friend, Ella Stinson of Russellville; his son, Barry Appling (Jacqueline) of Auburn; his daughter, Dana Stranger (Tracey) of Russellville; his grandchildren: Chelsea Rolf, Cara Stranger McCoy, Braden Stranger, Kristen Cummings, Kayla Duquel and Honesty “Punkin” Appling; his great-grandchildren. Caroline, Asher, Elu, Rosalie, & Everly.
Carey loved to eat at Cracker Barrel, was a member of the Logan County Cattleman’s Association, and graduated from Chandlers High School in 1962. He attended the First General Baptist Church and was a Christian.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the chapel of Kirby Funeral Services Russellville with funeral services at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in Homer Cemetery, 1040 Plainview Church Road, Russellville, KY 43376.
