William C. “Bill” Gustin, 80, of Auburn, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, 2025, at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa on July 15, 1944, to the late William Ellsworth Gustin and Eula May Phelps Gustin.
He was a published author of gifted studies in education.
He received his undergraduate degree from Iowa State and his Masters from the University of Wisconsin and his doctorate from the University of Chicago.
He was an avid trumpet player and vocalist. He was member of the Young Harris College Concert Band in Hiawassee, Ga. and many other bands during his lifetime. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Gustin.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Betsy Gustin; his son, Alex Gwynette and wife Rebecca of Auburn; his grandchildren, Emma-Grace Gwynette, Taylor Gwynette and Carolina Gwynette; his nephew, Ben Gustin of California, and his nieces, Bailey Aspenson and Bethany Lee, both of Florida.
The family of William C. “Bill” has chosen cremation. There will be no services at this time.
