Rhoda Virginia James, 97, of Dunmor, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, at her home in Dunmor. She was born Sunday, Jan. 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Murrel McPherson Sr. and the late Althna Gossett McPherson. She was the wife of the late Harry James.
She was a dedicated, loving wife and mother, and was loved by all who knew her. She was also a homemaker and a member of Penrod Baptist Church.
Surviving are her daughter, Teresa (Bill) Hicks of Houston, Texas; his sons, Michael (Connie) James of Huntsville, Ala., David (Connie) James of Ankeny, Iowa and Steve (Julie) James of Louisville; her grandchildren, Jessica (David) deBeer, Bradley (Amanda) James, Addison (Sarah) James, Andrew (Tanya) James, John (Becky) Hicks, James Read, Casey (April) James, Caylin (Autumn) James, Chandler James (Georgia Ford, fiancé) and Alex Vega; and her 13 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild
She was preceded in death by all of her siblings: sisters Willie Corley, Clara Baker, and Charlotte Bryant, and brothers Cecil McPherson, John McPherson, and Murrel McPherson Jr.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at Penrod Baptist Church, located at 778 State Route 949, Dunmor, KY 42339, with Bro. Jerry Winters officiating. Private interment will be in James Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at Price Funeral Home, Inc., located at 252 E. Green Street, Lewisburg, KY 42256. There will also be visitation from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
