With profound sadness, his family announces the passing of Ronnie Wayne Franklin Sr., who left this world on Feb. 22, 2025, just one day shy of his 79th birthday. Born in Dawson Springs on Feb. 23, 1946, Ronnie was a devoted family man, a dedicated worker, and a proud veteran who lived a life of service and integrity.
Ronnie honorably served his country as a Staff Sergeant (SSG/E6) in the United States Army, retiring after a distinguished military career. Following his service, he dedicated 25 years as an assistant unit operator at TVA, where he was known for his hard work, expertise, and unwavering commitment.
He was a resident of 1392 Red Hill Road, Lewisburg, His kindness, humor, and wisdom left a lasting impact on his family and friends where he was lovingly known as “Doc”. He took immense pride in his loved ones, always providing encouragement and support with a steady and loving presence.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Marsha Lynn (Dunn), who was known by family and friends as “Momma”, whom he married on Nov. 14, 2003. He is also survived by his children: Ronnie Wayne Franklin Jr. and his wife MaryBeth, Allison "Sissy" Luttrell and her husband Tony, David Alan Madison; Benjamin Ray Franklin. and Dereke Madison and his wife Stephanie. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Lou Perez, and her husband, Alberto Perez plus his brother James Allen Franklin.
Ronnie’s greatest joy was his grandchildren, and he leaves behind a legacy in Clere Franklin, Dawson Franklin, Markus Franklin, Greyson Franklin, Carlee Franklin, Joshua Vincent, Starr Axtell, and Sarah Madison. He was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Jeremiah, Lucas, Knox and Nova Franklin. His love and guidance will forever be cherished in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ottie Ray Franklin, and his mother, Sallie May Milton. He is preceded by two sons, Joey Wayne Franklin and James Ray Franklin, who passed away at birth; his sisters Jerry Belle and her husband, Joe, Jo Nell, and Jane; his brother, Gene; and his sister-in-law, Mildred Willis Franklin.
A celebration of Ronnie's life will be held from 9 a.m. - noon on Feb. 28 at Price Funeral Home, Inc., located at 252 East Green St. Lewisburg 42256 where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. After the visitation there will be a private burial at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Though he is no longer with us, Ronnie Wayne Franklin Sr. just needed five minutes of your time to impact the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, strength, and service will never be forgotten.
