Karen Joy Wilkins passed away peacefully on Aug. 13, 2025 at the age of 71. She was surrounded by her family and wrapped in the warmth of their love. Born on Nov. 10, 1953 in Logan County, Karen was the cherished daughter of the late Aldra Mae White and Clarence Edward White. She grew up with a spirit that was both gentle and strong. She built a life centered around kindness, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Karen married Ricky Wilkins in 1979, and together they created a home filled with laughter, unconditional love, and countless treasured memories. She was the mother of Jennifer Wilkins-Schrier and Bridget Wilkins, who will forever carry her wisdom, warmth, and compassion in their hearts.
Her life was defined by a love of reading. She also loved walks on the beach, collecting seashells, Atlanta Braves Baseball, and Alabama Football. Whether she was walking for charities or spending time outdoors she gave fully of herself to everyone she met.
She is survived by her husband, Ricky Wilkins of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; her daughters: Jennifer Wilkins-Schrier (David Schrier) of Russellville and Bridget Wilkins of Auburn; her grandchildren: Zoe Schrier (Dyllan Boggs), Diane Schrier, and Adam Schrier; her sister, Judy Wilcutt (Larry Wilcutt) of Russellville; and her cousin, Cheryl Dossett.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Edward White (Sandra Lame) and her two fur babies, Bella and Dolly, and her grand fur baby, Echo.
A graveside celebration of Karen’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Gants Cemetery in Sharon Grove. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor the remarkable woman she was.
