Lolette Powell Gatlin, 83, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 at Creekwood Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Fort Benning, Ga. on July 12, 1942 to the late Ernest Powell and Cleo Crenshaw Powell.

She taught fifth and sixth grade Science for the Russellville Independent Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the Women’s College in Georgia and her Masters degree at WKU. She was a member of the United Methodist Temple where she taught Youth Sunday School and was active in the UMW. She enjoyed her Bridge Club.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Gatlin; her daughters, Stephanie Gatlin Wilson and husband Tony of Orlando, Fla. and Courtnay Gatlin Watkins and husband Josh of Russellville; her brother ~ Dennis Lee Powell and wife Jan of Bonaire, Ga.; her sister, Janice Powell Etheridge of Perry, Ga.; and her grandchildren, Claire Ashley Wilson, Chloe Morgan Watkins and Brittany Lynn Watkins.

Funeral services for Lolette Powell Gatlin will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025 at the United Methodist Temple with Rev. Michael Nichols and Rev. Michael Romans with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the church on Friday will be held from 11 a.m. until the service hour.

Summers and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
