Gayle Dawson Brown, 88, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025 at Creekwood Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Russellville on April 28, 1937 to the late D.C. Dawson Jr. and Amanda Sydnor Dawson.
She worked in county government for 34 years and was a member of Dripping Spring Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, played the piano and was a choir member. She was a former member of the DAR, Red Hat Society, Logan County Democratic Committee and volunteered at Logan Memorial Hospital.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. “Tommy” Brown; her daughter, Gaye Brown; and her sister, Diane Dawson.
She is survived by her son, Ben Brown and wife Sandra of Russellville; her brother, Lynn Dawson of Olmstead; her grandchildren, Brooke Brown Waldrup, Ali Cannizzo, Brenna Brown Calhoun and Meg Brow; her great-grandchildren; and her two great-great- grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gayle Dawson Brown will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Summers and Son Funeral Home with Harris Dockins officiating with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Saturday will be held from 10 a.m. until the service hour of 2.
