Amanda Gayle Brown Hollingsworth, 60, of State Line Road, Springfield, Tenn. passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015 at the Alive Hospice in Madison, Tenn. She was a Logan County native, born June 30, 1955 to Thomas Benjamin Brown Jr. and Gayle Dawson Brown.  

She worked many years in education after receiving her BS, MA and Rank 1 from Western Kentucky University. She taught at Lewisburg High School and Logan County High School, worked for the Kentucky State Department of Education and worked for the Simpson County and Russellville Independent Boards of Education.  She attended and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Benjamin Brown Jr.

She is survived by her mother ~ Gayle Dawson Brown ~ Olmstead; her husband ~ Jack Hollingsworth; her step-son ~ Sam Hollingsworth and wife Emily ~ Springfield; her step-daughter ~ Anna Brandon and husband Adam ~ Springfield; her brother ~ Thomas Benjamin “Ben” Brown III and wife Sandra ~ Russellville; her step-grandchildren ~ Lila Hollingsworth and Meredith Brandon; four nieces, two great-nieces and a great-nephew; and many devoted friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at the Springfield First United Methodist Church with Dr. Fred B. Hembree Jr. officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home in Russellville and Saturday at Springfield First United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until the service hour of 11.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Springfield First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available.
