Mildred Murphy Schmid, 89, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Russellville, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 in Lakeland, Fla. She was a Logan County native, born June 2, 1926 to the late Will Murphy and Mildred Snowder Murphy. She was a medical transcriber and was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Schmid.
She is survived by her sons ~ Terry Atkinson and wife Margaret ~ Olmstead, Jack Atkinson and wife Brigitte ~ Lakeland, and Glenn Atkinson and wife Courtlann ~ Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; her sister-in law ~ Virginia Bachman ~ Lakeland; and other local family ~ Norma Murphy and Connie Thompson ~ Russellville.
Funeral services for Mildred Murphy Schmid will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Peter Santisteban and Ben Ferguson officiating with burial to follow in Russellville Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 11 a.m. Saturday until the service hour of 1 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
