Ernest Leslie Sanford Sr., 93 of Franklin, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at his home. He was a Logan County native, born Jan. 16, 1923 to the late Willie Sanford and Mary Frances Mullen Sanford.
He was a farmer and member of the Fairview Memorial Missionary Baptist in Bowling Green, where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Elizabeth Gregory Sanford.
He is survived by his sons ~ William Sanford and wife Betty Frances ~ Franklin,Henry David Sanford and wife Kate ~ Clayton, N.C., Ernest L. Sanford, Jr. and wife Rebecca Ruth ~ Richardsville,Marion Sanford and wife Beverly Jo ~ Bowling Green, Ronnie Sanford and wife Debbie Lou ~ Franklin, and Jeff Sanford and wife Jamie ~ Bowling Green; his daughters ~ Mary Lou Tims ~ Rockfield, Betty Jane Moran and husband Darrell ~ Rockfield, and Beverly Joyce ~ Woodburn; his brothers ~ Coleman Sanford ~ Russellville and James Robert Sanford ~ Russellville; 27 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Ernest Leslie Sanford Sr. will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Moran and Bro. Jerry Miller officiating with burial to follow in Russellville Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home will be Monday, Feb. 29, from 3 to 8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. Tuesday until the service time of 1 p.m.
