Carl Shackelford Jr., 81, of Shackelford Road, Allensville, passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2016 at his home. He was born in Strawberry Plains, Tenn. on March 8, 1935 to the late Beecher Carl Shackelford Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Trott Shackelford. He was a farmer, a U.S. Army veteran and of the Baptist faith. He was a member of Farm Bureau where he served as director for many years, former president of Todd County 4-H council, president of the Pennyrile Association of 4-H and director of the Kentucky Polled Herford Association.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Shackelford; his sons ~ Richard Shackelford ~ Allensville, and Lawrence Shackelford and wife Betsy ~ Clarksville; his daughters ~ Cynthia Crofford and husband Jim ~ Afton, Va., and Carla Shackelford and husband, Reuben Thorton ~ Huntsville, Ala.; his brothers ~ Earl Shackelford ~ Jackson, Tenn., Bob Shackelford ~ Clarksville and Charles Shackelford ~ Trenton; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, William Joseph Shackelford and Joseph David Shackelford.
Funeral services for Carl Shackelford, Jr. will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service hour of 2 p.m.
