John R. ‘Bob’ Baker, 70, of Gordonsville Road, Russellville, passed away Sept. 11, 2016 at his home. He was a Logan County native, born Jan. 16, 1946 to the late Gorman Makmon Baker and Mary Helen Chitwood Baker. He was a meat cutter for many years with Guions Market and worked most recently as a Walmart Associate. He was a member of the Lewisburg Church of Christ and an avid hunter. He was a member of The National Hot Rods Association and winner of numerous drag racing competitions.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judy Slaughter Baker; his daughters ~ April Kutzman and husband Jason ~ Lewisburg, and Robin Whitman and husband Slim ~ Russellville; his brother ~ Charles Baker and wife Patricia ~ Russellville; his sisters ~ Sarah Brooks and husband Lloyd ~ Russellville,Marilyn Settle ~ Lewisburg, andAlice Yates and husband Ricky ~ Auburn; and his grandchildren ~ Nolan Kutzman, Karyn Kutzman and Lily Whitman.
Funeral services for John R. ‘Bob’ Baker will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Patrick Kersteins and Jeff Penick officiating with burial to follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 5-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the service hour of 1 p.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Hosparus of Barren River. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
