Dorothy M. Moore, 83, of Moraine, Ohio passed away on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. She was born on June 4, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Ellsworth & Almeda (Brenner) Harris. Dorothy loved being a homemaker and babysitter for years and later retired from Meijer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Moore; her sister, Margaret Willis; and her sister-in-law, Helen Davis.

She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi McIntosh (Bob); her son, Michael Moore (Angela); her grandchildren, Julie Southard (Mike), Sara LeRoux (Corey), Andrew Moore and Hannah Moore; her great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Dorothy Southard, Isabelle LeRoux and Haley Dodd; her sisters, Jean Spreher, Barbara Williams, Lela Sievers (Howard); her brothers, Ellsworth Harri, Jr., (Lynn), Russell Harris (Sue), her brothers-in-law, Robert Moore (Betty), Kenneth Moore, Loyd Moore (Linda); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She loved spending time with her family and her cat Freckles. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, Wheel of Fortune, the Cincinnati Reds and reading the Dayton Daily News every day. Most recently she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds on her front porch.

Many special memories were made with her family, especially showing her love for her grandchildren and great granddaughters. Before the first grandchild, she selected to be called "Granny Dot" and most of her grandchildren and their friends still address her as that. She volunteered for three generations at Moraine Meadows Elementary School as a homeroom mother. She shared her love of baking (well known for her chocolate chip cookies and gingersnaps), plastic canvas, embroidery, sewing and crafts with others. Her unique sense of humor brought laughter and smiles to those who knew her. She was loved by all and will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 12:30 p.m. at Wiley's Chapel with Joseph Horner officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service with burial at the Wiley's Chapel Cemetery.
