Hazel Irene Fleming, 89, of Lewisburg, died on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at the Hospice House of Southern KY in Bowling Green.
She was born Monday, Oct. 24, 1927, the daughter of the late Jessie Johnson and the late Mabel Willhite Johnson. She was the wife of the late Robert Howard Fleming.
She was the Spa Correspondent for the News-Democrat &/Leader Newspaper in Russellville and had been a site supervisor at a nutritional center.
She was a member of Elk Lick Baptist Church where she had sung in the choir for over 50 years. She was also the last living member of the Spa Quartet that had consisted of the following members, Inez Shoemaker Willcutt on piano, Claude Willcutt singing lead, Robert Howard (Bob) Fleming singing tenor, Rector Jenkins singing bass and Hazel singing alto.
Surviving are her son, Stanley Wayne Fleming (Elaine) of Lewisburg; her grandchildren; Krista Willis (Billy) of Winder, Ga., Kerri Groen and Edwin Fleming of Roswell, Ga., John Sweeney (Jessica) of Saint Robert, Mo. and Tara Sweeney of Lewisburg; her great-grandchildren, Kayla Vincent, Madeline Groen and Gabrielle Groen, all of Roswell, Ga. and Kyla Sweeney, Michaela Sweeney, Janessa Sweeney and Scarlett Sweeney, all of Saint Robert, Mo,
She was predeceased by brother, Jessie David Johnson of Campbellsville.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Price Funeral Home, Inc. located at 252 E. Green St. Lewisburg with Rev. Ken Cummins and Rev. Dale Hanson officiating. Interment will be in Elk Lick Baptist Church Cemetery, Lewisburg.
The family will receive friends after 5 p,m. on Friday, June 16, at Price Funeral Home.
