Billy Griffin, 78, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 in Logan Memorial Hospital. He was a Tennessee native, born July 29, 1939 to the late George W. Griffin and Luna Bagwell Griffin. He was a truck driver for Rockwell International for a number of years, then worked as an over-the-road driving instructor for Bowling Green Technical College. He was a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 43 Years ~ Lillie Griffin; his son~ Jeff Simmons and wife, Sheila ~ Murfreesboro; his daughter ~ Kimberly Jo Griffin Spencer ~ Bowling Green; his sisters ~ Virginia Norden ~ Knoxville, Marjorie Jackson ~ Bay Minette, Ala. and Iris Hewitt ~ Trenton, N.J.; and his grandson ~ Colton Spencer ~ Bowling Green.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Edwards.
A memorial service for Billy Griffin will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept.15, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home in Russellville, with Bro. Carl Freudenthal, Bro. Gary Johnson and Bro. Jared Patrick officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening beginning at 4 p.m. and lasting until the service hour.
