Dr. David Hatchett, 85, of Franklin Road, Russellville, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Greenwood Nursing and Rehab in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was born Aug. 12, 1928 in Glasgow to the late Earl and Ora Elizabeth Ellis Hatchett. He was a Korean War veteran, UK graduate with degree in agriculture, and Auburn University graduate with degree in Veterinary Medicine which he practiced for 25 years in our community. He was also a Kentucky Colonel, Deacon Emeritus at First Baptist Church in Russellville, former president of Habitat for Humanity, real estate agent for Shaker Realty, member of the Kiwanis Club, Hixson award winner for Exemplary Service for the Kiwanis, and founding member of the deGraffenreid Chorale. He was a loving and devoted husband and father.
He is survived by his wife ~ Edna Hatchett, his children ~ Lisa Hatchett Cohen and Phillip Hatchett, both of Russellville and Teri Hatchett Hogan (Greg) ~ Palos Verdes, Calif., his grandchildren ~ Shawn and Terri Ann Cohen ~ Phoenix, Ariz.;his sister ~ Ora Riherd (Frank) ~ Glasgow, and his brother ~ Joe Hatchett (Barbara) ~ Glasgow
Funeral Services for Dr. David Hatchett will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, at the First Baptist Church, Sixth & Main streets, with Bro. Buddy Crabtree officiating. Visitation at the church on Sunday will be from 1 pm until the service time of 3:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to go to Habitat for Humanity or the Russellville Kiwanis Club. Envelopes will be available at the church.
