It is with great sadness that the Forgy family announces the passing of Floyd Otis ‘Joe’ Forgy Jr on Dec. 22.
Joe was born in Nashville on May 22, 1927. He grew up in Lewisburg and spent most of his adult life in Dayton, Ohio.
Joe worked at NCR and was a member of the Ohio National Guard U.S. Army for 30 years. He was a recruiter and administrator and retired as a Master Sergeant. He was always very proud that he was able to be part of so many of our servicemen lives. He received many awards and recognitions from President of the United States to the Mayor of Middletown as well as other state and government officials. He was awarded the Army Commendation Achievement Medal, the Ohio Commendation Medal and many other medals and ribbons.
He was member of the AmVets, Miamisburg American Legion Post 165. He was a active member of the Men's Auxiliary of VFW Post 3438 and helped with recruitment of new members and post events.
He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Joan Forgy; his son, Joe Neal Forgy; his mother, Nannie Bell Forgy; his father, Floyd O. Forgy Sr.; his brothers Leroy and Otis Harold Forgy; and his sister, Lennis Urbancic.
He is survived by his daughter, Glenda Hoagland (Dan); his daughter in law Stacy; his sister, Dorothy Sue Johnson (James); his grandsons, Nick (Ashlee,) Nathan Hoagland, and Lee Tassio (Jaimee); and his great-grandchildren Annabella, Luca, Gianna, Juliet and Samantha.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Dayton VA, Kennedy Way for the care the past year, and the staff of the Dayton VA Hospice. They are all very special people.

A visitation will be held beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg. A funeral service will follow at noon Friday at the funeral home, with Bro. John Posey officiating.
Burial will take place in the Lewisburg Cemetery.
