Willard Reed Hughes, 90, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Creekwood Place Nursing and Rehab in Russellville. He was a Logan County native, born May 17, 1927 to the late Earl Hughes and Myrtle Reed Hughes. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, farmer, and member of Adairville Baptist Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, former director of the Adairville Rural Fire Department and member of the Cattleman’s Association. 

He is survived by his wife, Joann Hughes; his sons, Jim Hughes and wife Carla and Richard Hughes and wife Valerie, all of Russellville; his daughter, Jacque Jarve and husband John of Atherton, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Hughes.

Funeral Services for Willard Reed Hughes will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Carl Freudenthal officiating with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Adairville.  

Visitation at the funeral home will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, from 5-8 pm and Sunday from 8 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
