William “Bill” Heichelbech, 90, of Evansville, formerly of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born in Louisville, on June 3, 1927 to the late Wallace B. and Mary Knott Heichelbech. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 29 in Russellville, Kentucky and a life member of the VFW Post 1114 in Evansville. He worked for the US Postal Service for 33 years and was the Indiana State President of the National Association of Postal Supervisors. He retired in 1985 as Postmaster of Russellville and served as President of the Russellville Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Sybil Cabiness Heichelbech.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Winterman and husband Joe, Cathy Fox, and Diane Spaulding and husband, J.R., all of Evansville; his brothers, Jim Heichelbeck of Louisville and Kenneth Heichelbech of Owensboro; his grandchildren, Samuel Winterman, Jessica Morrow, Benjamin Winterman, Leslie James-Wilhite, Adam James and Jennie Fitzgerald; and his great-grandchildren, Elisabeth and Sarah Morrow, Abbie and Will Fizgeald, and Willow Wilhite.
Funeral Services for William “Bill” Heichelbech will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Crabtree and Danny Williams officiating with burial to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday will be held from noon until the service hour.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Hospice of Southern Kentucky. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
