Phillip Hatchett, 55, of Russellville, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Russellville. He was a Logan County native, born June 19, 1962 to David Ellis Hatchett and Edna Earl Hatchett. He was a member of First Baptist Church, 6th and Main Street, and a former deacon and Sunday School teacher.

He then began a new ministry as the Men’s Head Golf coach for Western Kentucky University. After taking the helm of WKU’s Men’s Head Coach in 2010, he then began as a mentor, fostering the development of youth golf. He created the Phillip Hatchett Junior Golf Camp to stimulate the game’s growth, and the camp has mentored over 200 young golfers since its inception.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Ellis Hatchett, and his niece, Shelly Cohen.

He is survived by his mother, Edna Hatchett of Russellville; his wife, Beth Hatchett, of Russellville; his sisters, Lisa Hatchett Cohen of Russellville and Teri Hatchet Hogan of Los Angeles; his nephew, Shawn Cohen; his niece, Terri Ann Cohen.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at First Baptist Church, 6th and Main Streets, with Bro. Mike Dunn and Bro. Joe Ball officiating. Visitation at the church on Friday will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Red Cross. Envelopes will be available at the church.
