James Edgar “Jimmy” Chesnut, 68, of Brookhaven Drive, Russellville, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at his home. He was a Todd County native, born March 27, 1946 to the late Tandy P. Chesnut and Betty Mason Chesnut. He was a Vietnam Army veteran and member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Russellville where he was an elder and past chairman of board of the church, past chairman of the board for Bowling Green Federal Credit Union. He was also a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Williams Chesnut; his son ~ Phillip Tandy Chesnut ( Amy ) ~ Paducah; his mother-in law ~ Nita Williams ~ Russellville; two grandchildren ~ Carson F. Chesnut and Miles D. Chesnut.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David M. Chesnut.
Funeral Services for James Edgar “Jimmy” Chesnut will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, at Summers and Kirby Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Wright and Rev. Kyle Harris officiating with burial to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home began Friday, May 16, from 5-8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home until the funeral hour of 11 a.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the First Christian Church Disciples of Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available.
