John Foster Hendricks, 17, of Russellville, passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 in Russellville. He was born July 4, 2001 to Joe Hendricks Jr. and Kaye Hendricks. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a Governor’s Scholar and captain of the swim team, the cross country team, and the track team where he held the two-mile record at Logan County High School. He received the Presidential Scholarship to the University of Kentucky. He was founder and president of the Junior Optimist Club, president of the Beta Club, and FFA chaplain at Logan County High School. He was also the Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship state winner for 2018, and was a member of the Sons of The American Revolution.
He is survived by his parents, Joe and Kaye Hendricks of Russellville; his paternal grandparents, Joe Wayne Hendricks Sr. and wife Cathie of Russellville; his maternal grandparents, Marion Parker and wife Burman of Alpharetta, Ga.; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services for John Foster Hendricks will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church Parkside with the Army Chaplain of Fort Campbell, Dr. Russell Woody, and Bro. Bryan Powell officiating with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the church will be held Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday, beginning at 8 a.m. and lasting until the time of the services.
Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations may be made to Camp Joy in Brownsville. Envelopes will be available at the church.
