Shirlee Utley Yassney, 82, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was a Todd County native, born Nov. 27, 1936 to the late Lawrence Utley and Ida Rager Utley. She worked as district manager for Minit Mart Corporation for 20 years and was Mayor of her beloved City of Russellville for eight years before finally retiring to be home with her family. Shirlee loved the Lord, her family and her beautiful flower gardens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Yassney, her son, Bryan Stewart, and her siblings, Mary Ruth, Billy, Paul, Polly, Jimmy, Bobby, David, Joann and Frances.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Darlene and Marc of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and Amy Stafford and Brian of Russellville; her brother, Kenneth Utley and Carolyn of Franklin; her sister, Barbara Justice of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Shirlee Utley Yassney will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at Summers, Kirby and Sanders Funeral Home with Bro. Calvin Naylor officiating with burial to follow in the Pea Ridge Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be held Monday, from 5-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11 a.m. and lasting until the time of the service.
Memorial donations may be made to Hosparus Health of Barren River. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Grandsons and great-grandson, Travis Rhoads, Bryant Rhoads, Ryan Payeur, Jackson Kinser, Brett Kinser, Jason Stafford and Zachary Stafford.
