Katie Ray Holloman has been selected for an internship at The Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park on Okaloosa Island in Florida. She is a junior at Murray State University, majoring in Wildlife and Conservation Biology - Zoology.
Along with being a full-time college student, Katie Ray will complete the three month Marine Animal Training Internship Program. Interns deliver formal microphone presentations, prepare diets, maintain cleanliness of all areas, record husbandry data, and observe training techniques.
The Gulfarium houses a variety of marine animals including bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, seals, stingrays, sharks, otters, penguins and reptiles.
Katie Ray visited SeaWorld at age three and from that day forward, her obsession has been all things ocean. Living in land-locked Kentucky has not stopped her. She attended the summer Dauphin Island Sea Lab Marine Science Course, was the first intern at Pennyroyal Scuba Center, and has her Open Water Scuba Certification.
Katie Ray is a 2019 Russellville High School graduate and is expected to graduate next year from Murray State University. She is the third daughter of Chris and Kerry Allen Holloman of Adairville.
