The Chandler’s Site-Based Decision-Making Council met Friday, April 2, for the purpose of principal selection. The Council voted unanimously to hire Bonnie Spears as principal effective immediately. Spears has been the interim principal of Chandler’s since October 2020.

Spears began her career as a middle-grades social studies and language arts teacher at Franklin-Simpson Middle School, and then at Auburn School. She worked with the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative (GRREC) as a cognitive coach. She was later hired to be the curriculum and instructional specialist at Russellville Independent Schools. From 2015 to October 2020, Spears has served as the assistant principal of Chandler’s School.

“I am so thankful for the opportunity to be selected as principal,” said Spears. “I am excited for the possibilities that I can be a part of-- with students, staff, parents, and our community. I am honored to represent Chandler’s School.”

Spears is a National Board Certified Teacher. She received her Master’s of Arts in Education from Western Kentucky University in 2010. She also earned her Rank I in Leadership and Administration from WKU.

Bonnie Spears and her husband Caycee, who is the principal at Logan County High School, have three daughters-- Gracee, Sophee, and Ella.
