The Logan County FFA/Agriculture Department has been very busy this spring with contest preparations within the Barren River FFA Region and competing against 1,200 students from seven states as part of the UK Virtual Field Day. Based on the results, all of the preparations for virtual contests have paid off.
The following students will be representing the Logan County FFA Chapter at the state level in June:
The Star Farmer from Logan County representing the Barren River Region is Crandal Barrow from Auburn raising "Crandal's Popcorn."
The star in Placement from Whitson Farms showing pigs and cattle is Mallory Whitson, representing the Lewisburg community. These students work on their SAE projects outside of school and compete against others in the Barren river Region in similar categories.
SAE’s or Supervised Agricultural Experiences are student-led projects that can consist of Placement- A student works for someone; Entrepreneur- A Student owns their own business; Research- Conducting research at home or school. Logan County FFA students clock numerous hours working after school hours on their projects. Students are working on projects from woodworking to beekeeping, to candle and cupcake making. We have been very blessed with a variety of SAE’s this year.
The proficiency contest was held Tuesday, March 30. Congratulations to these FFA members on their accomplishments.
