Logan's Sierra Dunn earns SKYCTC's top Allied Heath honor

Each year, Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College (SKYCTC) recognizes students from each of the Allied Health programs of the College who have excelled in academic and clinical excellence as well as leadership.

This year, SKYCTC honored thirteen Allied Health students with awards presented at the annual Allied Health Award Ceremony held on April 30 at a virtual event. 

Sierra Dunn of Logan County was named the top student in Allied Health

Additionally, The SKYCTC Allied Health students chose three professional mentors from area healthcare facilities to receive an award for their contributions to the program.

Awards recipients in their respective categories were:

Academic Excellence                                                                                                                 

In recognition of achieving excellence by maintaining the highest program GPA:              

  • Radiography - Anthony Kemble - Warren Co.
  • Respiratory - Sierra Dunn - Logan Co.
  • Surgical Technology - Jana Howard - Warren Co.

Clinical Excellence

In recognition of achieving and maintaining the highest level of clinical proficiency:         

  • Radiography - Maura Rippy - Warren Co. and Payton Calvert Hayes - Allen Co.
  • Respiratory - Britani Gipson - Edmonson Co.
  • Surgical Technology - Hannah Murphy - Warren Co. 

Excellence in Leadership                                                                                                    

In recognition for demonstrating outstanding leadership skills and integrity consistently exhibited toward fellow students -            

  • Radiography - Audrey Browning - Warren Co.
  • Respiratory - Erin McKinney - Warren Co.
  • Surgical Technology - Melinda Brown - Logan Co.

Overall Allied Health Winner

In recognition of overall excellence among all students in the Allied Health programs -

  • Respiratory - Sierra Dunn - Logan Co.                     
  • Professional Mentor

The students of the SKYCTC Allied Health Programs selected three outstanding mentors at their clinical sites. This year’s professional mentor awards go to:

  • Radiography - Tim Embry - Medical Center                                          
  • Respiratory – Emily Wells - Greenview  

·              Surgical Technology - Kim Corbin - TJ Samson
